Corner of Church St and Market St Wollongong 8am, 9:30am, 11am, 5pm & 7pm each Sunday
Last weekend we spent a weekend of fun, friendship and fellowship at our annual St Michael’s Church Conference. This year we were privileged to hear four talks from the former Archbishop of Sydney, Peter Jensen, on the subject of ‘Christian confidence in a post-Christian world’.
In his first talk, Peter describes modern society and its approach towards God using the example of Babel. He says, “The internet is our attempt to know everything and be like God.” Since modern society believes God is dead, there are flow-on effects and consequences for the way we view authority (i.e. we view ourselves as gods), our moral compass (we have no sense of right or wrong) and our identity. From relationships to individualism; people are filled with a sense of entitlement and there is widespread sexual confusion. But… we have what the world does not have: a solidly grounded hope in Jesus. We don’t just tolerate others, we love because Christ first loved us!
These talks have been recorded and are available to download below.
Talk 1 – Our World (Genesis 11:1-9)
Talk 2 – Our God (Isaiah 40:1-31)
Talk 3 – Our Selves (Ephesians 1:1-14)
Talk 4 – Our Lord (Romans 5:1-11)
We’d love for you to join us at our next Church Conference in 2017!
